Located on Atlantic Canada’s retail strip, which is undergoing a 10 Million dollar Streetscape project (completion date of Dec. 2021), The Mills will be a mixed-use building with commercial and retail on the ground floor, apartment-style units above and public open spaces within an open interior pedestrian promenade, featuring a mid-block connection from the Schmidtville neighborhood to the library. Ideally located on the high traffic Spring Garden Road, The Mills will join the vibrant and growing Spring Garden District that is currently finalizing the Spring Garden Road Restoration Plan. Spacious sidewalks lined with trees and lights create an open, inviting environment where you can relax, shop, and be social. The Mills will be a mixed use development located at the intersection of Spring Garden Road, Queen Street and Birmingham in the epicenter of the shopping and dining district of Halifax. On Queen Street and Spring Garden Road is a prominent feature of the design for The Mills, with increased glazing on the ground floor, which is framed by a contrasting cladded ‘eyebrow’ providing a more pronounced presence of the building at the pedestrian level while still fitting into the Spring Garden Road streetscape. From Queen to Birmingham, between Spring Garden Road and Clyde Street, the promenade provides a location for outdoor commercial and restaurant seating, not currently part of the area atmosphere. The Mills will feature local and national high end retailers and restaurant operators and will help shape the beautiful streetscape of Spring Garden Road for years to come.
